Beautiful and spacious campground. The General Store covers the basics. Play area and large well maintained pool are available. Located in a valley, not the typical crammed in campgrounds you see along the highway. Ask about the variety of sites availabe. Pull throughs, secluded, close to their awesome bath and shower houses.
We've stayed at several campgrounds in the area and none of them even compare to rafter j bar ranch. Extremely clean and spacious! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning in years to come. Also want to add that it is very kid friendly.. the pool and playground are excellent and there is access to mikkelson trail from the campground, which was convenient and wonderful!!!
Loved this campground. We stayed 3 nights. Great location to all that the Black Hills has to offer. Liked that it was quiet but still had a pool for the kids. Large campsite with a variety of choices for people's tastes. We stayed in the back, had a lovely tree lined site. The bathrooms were clean and convenient. Would definitely stay here again if ever back in the area. Staff was friendly.
Loved this place. Woke up to birds chirping and squirrels playing between the trees. Only stayed one night but wanted to stay forever. The facilities were absolutely spotless. Only downside was that I wasn't given the option, when booking, to camp in the one area with cable so you need to ask if that's what you want. Pool looked great, pancakes served cookout style each morning and there is a little camp store if you've left something at home. A stones throw from Mount Rushmore National Park and Hill City is 3 miles down the road. Crazy Horse is worth a visit too. WiFi is apparently only available around the office/pool area but I did see a lady sat in the laundry room with her laptop and a glass of wine so maybe that is the place to be! A little pricey at 68$ for the night but the location made it worthwhile.
First camped here in Sept 2002. The forest / pine smell, the location, the park in general is A1. We recently camped here in June of 2016. Simply a great value for what it is. Some campsites in the upper forest area are not easy to get into (back into) with a 33 foot TT, but its doable. The trees can get in the way, but again, its doable. Will be back again.
