Slate Creek Grille was the absolute perfect place to host our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding! The staff was extremely helpful and decorated the private banquet area for a rustic feel. The prime rib buffet was amazing with most of our guests going back for seconds and complimenting on how wonderful everything was. We would highly recommend Slate Creek Grille for any private event needs you may have.
Food was ok. The wait time wasn't bad at all. The bartender seemed more worried about a "new app" she was addicted to and was seen multiple times on her phone. We were only checked on once and we were never asked if we wanted a refill on our beverages. We were given our check and told "no hurry"...sure didn't feel like that though. Never came back to see if we needed change after we left our tab sit there for awhile. My husband ended up walking the tab to the bar. Only then did she look up from her phone and asked if we needed change. There was maybe 5 tables eating in the bar area and 3 people sitting at the bar. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
We were there at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday. It was not busy at all. Took a while to get a waitress to take our drink order. And then took quite a while to get our drinks. Only ordered pops and waters. The service was very slow but our food was good.
The hostess and waitress were friendly. The food was just ok. Buffalo steak was medium well at best and not med rare. It was chewy but the seasoning was flavorful. Salads came at the end of our meal. The place was not very busy but we waited almost an hour for our food. Not impressed. This was by far our worst dining experience in Hill City and I would steer clear for dinner at least.
Food served was not as stated; also items are way overpriced for the quality of what you get. Daily special supposed to be open face prime rib sandwich when it was brought to the table it was a slice of pork roast on a bun with au jus on the side. Other members in our group were also disappointed in the quality of the food they received and in the size of the portions. Will not be returning. Should have been apprehensive when we arrived as we were the only ones in the restaurant at 1 in the afternoon for the lunch on a Saturday.
