One of the few remaining, if not last, CCC Museum. Very informative, with antque reading material you can read, plenty of photos, tools, and so much more. The CCC made the Black Hills a tourist destination, building scenic roads, lakes, tunnels, and so much more!
This is a small museum but tells the story of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in South Dakota. This program affected the lives of thousands of men and their families between 1933 and 1942. Work of a roster of enrollees is ongoing and available to museum visitors. The amount of work completed by these men, particularly in South Dakota, is nothing short of incredible. The Museum is right in the heart of The Black Hills in the Hill City, SD Visitor Center.
Nerd heaven. Talk to the curator for even more info.
